By Cliff Rold - Part of the enduring mythology, and indeed allure, of boxing is the chance to change one’s fortunes from known to unknown with simply the strength of their own two fists. It’s a draw for participants and it’s what keeps even the most cynical fans with an eye on the screen even when they ‘know’ what they’re about to see.
If Josh Warrington has wanted to make himself cringe over the past few months, he has watched a recording of himself boxing Mauricio Lara in February. It is bad enough looking at himself get knocked out, but what is just as painful is watching all the mistakes he made that night.
Mauricio Lara says he will "destroy" Josh Warrington when they meet for a second time at Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds next Saturday September 4 in what is a huge fight for the Featherweight division, shown live worldwide on DAZN.

Former world champion Josh Warrington has issued an urgent appeal to the Leeds Council to allow him fight at Emerald Headingley Stadium. Back in February, one of the biggest upsets of the year took place when little known Mauricio Lara brutally knocked Warrington out, in the main event of card that was closed off to fans.
Josh Warrington’s ring return is still penciled in for September 4 at Headingley, despite the event being refused a license by the local council. Warrington, the former IBF featherweight champion, had been lined up for a rematch with Mauricio Lara, of Mexico, at Emerald Headingley, the home of Leeds Rhinos rugby league team on September 4.
Josh Warrington say he does not remember the punches that knocked him down against Mauricio Lara, but says that he felt clear-headed when he was allowed to continue in the fight. The former IBF featherweight champion was knocked out by Lara, a little-known Mexican, in the ninth round at Wembley this month. He had been heavily knocked down in the fourth round, prompting criticism of Howard Foster, the referee, and Sean O’Hagan, Warrington’s father and trainer, for not stopping it earlier.
