Josh Taylor: record, next fight and profile →
During a recent Sky Sports' episode of 'The Gloves Are Off' - junior welterweights Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis sat at the same table and argued about the severity of a “headlock” incident when they met in a casino.
Regis Prograis has grandiose plans to mirror in the moves of his hero Marvin Hagler. In 1980, Hagler was on the cusp of star status but without the designation of being a champion. He had fought outside of the United States just once, and Alan Minter stood in his way to solidify his name in the sport. Hagler travelled to Wembley Arena in London and promptly demolished Minter in three rounds to win the WBA, WBC, The Ring and lineal middleweight titles.
Lewis Ritson is a step closer to a world title challenge after getting the better of Robbie Davies Jr. The pair did battle at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, exclusively live on Sky Sports and DAZN. Ritson will be hoping that his shot at global honours will come at the home of his beloved Newcastle United, St James’ Park, and Davies Jr. will be looking to bounce back after suffering the second defeat of his professional career.

By Thomas Gerbasi - When Regis Prograis and Josh Taylor meet at the O2 Arena in London on October 26 for a host of junior welterweight belts and the World Boxing Super Series’ Ali Trophy, it’s the fight boxing needs, and not just for the usual reasons, though those reasons are still pretty good. “It’s very important,” said Prograis. “You’ve got two...
Josh Taylor suspects Regis Prograis really doesn’t want to come to the UK to fight him. Taylor accused Prograis of “trying to pull out” of their 140-pound title unification fight during a “Gloves Are Off” preview show that’ll air soon on Sky Sports. Scotland’s Taylor feels Prograis wasn’t comfortable with Taylor being afforded as close to a home-ring advantage he could get without actually having one.
The last opponent that traveled to the UK to face Josh Taylor arrived five days in advance of their fight. That wasn’t nearly enough time for Ivan Baranchyk to acclimate to the time change and other factors after training for their 140-pound title fight in the Los Angeles area. Regis Prograis made sure to avoid making the same mistake.

IBF junior welterweight champion Josh Taylor has promised to do a number on his upcoming opponent, WBA champion Regis Prograis. Their unification is the final bout of the World Boxing Super Series junior welterweight tournament, and takes place on October 26th from the O2 Arena in London. Streaming service DAZN and Sky Sports Box Office will carry the bout.
Regis Prograis has easily beaten two former world champions en route to the championship match of the World Boxing Super Series’ 140-pound tournament. An unfazed Josh Taylor promised Prograis’ dominant run will end October 26 at O2 Arena in London. Scotland’s Taylor even thinks he can knock out Prograis, who’s considered the stronger puncher in their 12-round title unification fight.
