Josh Taylor: record, next fight and profile →
LAS VEGAS – Josh Taylor realizes the type of difficult fight that awaits him Saturday night. The Scottish southpaw still can’t help but think at times about the opportunities beating Jose Ramirez would create for him later this year. First and foremost, the 30-year-old Taylor would become a potential opponent for Terence Crawford.
So far, so good for Stevie McKenna, who brings a record of seven knockouts in seven fights into his latest contest this weekend. But while McKenna hasn’t been getting many rounds in the ring, his father and trainer, Fergal, is making sure he is not shy of work in the gym.

If there was a movie of Josh Taylor’s career, he seems to be playing it on fast forward. It has only taken Taylor 17 fights to stand on the cusp of being the first British boxer to hold WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF titles at the same time.

Settling back in his training home of Los Angeles after spending the bulk of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in Ireland, Stevie McKenna was preparing for Saturday’s bout against Damian Haus when he got a call. Junior welterweight champion Josh Taylor was heading into Las Vegas and he needed some sparring. He didn’t need to ask “The Hitman” twice.
LAS VEGAS – It isn’t the biggest fight of the pandemic from a marketing standpoint, but Bob Arum proclaimed Jose Ramirez-Josh Taylor the best fight since the COVID-19 crisis began 14 months ago.
LAS VEGAS – Josh Taylor isn’t the least bit intimidated by boxing an American champion in Las Vegas on Saturday night. The Scottish southpaw doesn’t think he needs to win by knockout, either, even though three American judges were assigned to score his 12-round, 140-pound title unification fight against Jose Ramirez. Taylor expects to dominate Ramirez, so thoroughly that judges Tim Cheatham, Dave Moretti and Steve Weisfeld will have little choice but to score him a wide winner on their cards.
