WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley is giving his former Thompson Boxing stablemate, Josesito Lopez (30-4, 18KOs), a very good shot to upset WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1, 29KOs). Lopez challenges Canelo on September 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Ernest Gabion catches the Los Angeles press conference to announce the junior middleweight fight between WBC champion Saul "Canelo" Alvaerz and challenger Josesito Lopez. Hear from Alvarez, Lopez, Jhonny Gonzalez, Daniel Ponce De Leon and more.

The uphill battle Golden Boy Promotions has faced in promoting its September 15 headliner between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Josesito Lopez is that’s impossible to mention the card with referencing the other major show in Vegas that same evening. Approximately two miles away from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas – where Golden Boy’s show takes place – on the very same evening will be the middleweight championship between divisional kingpin Sergio Martinez and unbeaten beltholder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Los Angeles, California - WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1, 29KOs) and his upcoming challenger Josesito Lopez (30-4, 18KOs) went face to face at their kick-off press conference. Also present were Jhonny Gonzalez and Daniel Ponce De Leon, who clash on the undercard. Marcos Maidana will take on Jesus Soto Karass on the bill. When Josesito Lopez and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1, 29 KOs) stood toe-to-toe and stared each other down Tuesday on historic Olvera Street in Los Angeles, the supposedly undersized Lopez was the one looking down at his opponent. Maybe their Sept. 15 bout isn't such a gross size mismatch after all. Maybe Lopez really has another shot at an incredible upset.

Oscar De La Hoya offered a very personal reminder Tuesday for those that think Josesito Lopez is too small to upset Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. “The Golden Boy” was a big favorite over Manny Pacquiao, literally and figuratively, when Pacquiao challenged De La Hoya in December 2008. That didn’t stop Pacquiao from dominating De La Hoya for eight one-sided rounds, before the six-division champion and future Hall-of-Famer quit on his stool before the ninth round of their welterweight fight at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is disputing the recently published statements from Bob Arum, the CEO of Top Rank. On September 15th, the two promotional rivals will go head to head with dueling events in Las Vegas.

NEW YORK — Bob Arum claims he is less concerned than ever about another fight taking place the same night in Las Vegas as the middleweight championship showdown between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Sergio Martinez. The 80-year-old promoter welcomed the competition once he found out another emerging Mexican star, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, will oppose Josesito Lopez in a Showtime Championship Boxing main event Sept. 15 at MGM Grand.

WBC silver welterweight champion Josesito Lopez was present at the Union Rescue Mission's "Christmas in July," an annual event held in downtown L.A. that invites homeless families to celebrate the holiday spirit with snow, Santa Claus and presents.
