Omar "Businessman" Chavez finally returned to the ring and he fought a very passive fight, without throwing many punches - which allowed Argentine Jose Carlos "Puro" Paz to always attack - and secure a deserved unanimous decision over ten rounds.

The fight headlined a Zanfer Promotions card at the Palenque FENADU in Durango, Mexico - with nearly 5,000 fans in attendance to watch the card.

"Businessman" Chavez (27-5-1, 24 KO's) looked tired, held often and only at certain times had any life to throw punches and connect on Paz, who endured the blows of Sinaloa fighter - even though the local fans did not stop supporting the youngest son of Mexican legend Julio Cesar Chavez.

The best round for Chavez, took place in the eighth where he managed to connect with a very strong shot on the Argentine fighter, but in the ninth and tenth Paz once again regained control with his constant attacks.

"Puro" Paz (22-7-1, 12 KO's) was always coming forward and attacking Omar with both hands. Chavez was never able to get into a rhythm or throw combinations.

The scores of the judges were 97-93 and 97-94, 97-94 - all in favor of Carlos Paz.

Also on the card, Carlos Ornelas, from Tijuana, defeated Gabriel López by a fifth round technical knockout.

Duranguense Elliot Chávez effectively knocked out Mauricio "Bronco" Lara in a single round.

Omar ¨Pollo¨ Aguilar of Tijuana knocked out Fernando Gaucin in spectacular fashion in one minute of the first round.
