UFC superstar Jorge Masvidal is very eager to step in the squared circle for a cross-sport boxing match with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Both of the popular fighters were in action on Saturday night.

There was a lot of controversy that night - because the Canelo-Kovalev main event was delayed until the conclusion of Masvidal's fight with Diaz.

The decision by Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN, to delay Canelo-Kovalev, created a very long gap of time between the main event and the co-feature. What did they do to entertain the live audience at MGM? They showcased Masvidal-Diaz on the big screens inside the area.

Masvidal believes the entire crazy situation has created the perfect scenario to generate interest in a fight with Canelo.

“I can box and I want to break Canelo's face. I can box, move, work different angles, and I feel like fighting him. Maybe it's a sign that I fought today and he did too, but I want to have the opportunity to get in the ring with him,” said Masvidal.

Back in August of 2017, one of the biggest pay-per-view blockbusters took place when Floyd Mayweather came out of retirement to take part in a cross-sport boxing match with UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

The contest generated incredible hype and had over 4 million pay-per-view purchases. Mayweather would break down McGregor and stop him in the tenth round, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
