BoxingScene.com has been told that Francisco Lorenzo (34-7, 15KOs) has accepted the offer to fight Jorge Linares (27-1, 18KOs) on a March date in Venezuela. Lorenzo has a few good wins and close decision losses on his record against top fighters. The fight is going to take place at super featherweight or lightweight. Lorenzo was already training in camp. He is going to review, sign the contract and send it back for the fight.

"Lorenzo is a boxer who does not leave the gym, he is okay, and the late notice is not an issue. We are going to be will be making some adjustments to the style, and we need about 35 to 40 rounds of sparring to get ready," said Jose Rosario, manager of Lorenzo.

"We've never gone to Venezuela and we know it's going to be a great show. It's a good opportunity, Linares is a great fighter and it will be a good fight. Lorenzo has fought with twice with Humberto Soto, and Juan Diaz, Nate Campbell, among others. We have always gone to the backyard of an opponent, so it will not affect us to travel to Venezuela."
