The always exciting and world title challenger Jonathan "Polvo" Oquendo (26-5; 19KO's) from Puerto Rico has signed a promotional agreement with Black Tiger Promotions.
Black Tiger's President is entrepeneur Carlos Maldonado, who is a long time sports enthusiast in Puerto Rico and owner of San Juan's female basketball national team.
"2017 will be a year of great fights for Jonathan", stated Maldonado. "We are concentrated in staging blue chip events in premium venues like the one we just presented between Juanma and Papito, and what better than having Jonathan Oquendo to highlight one of those events soon! We will be announcing Black Tiger's 2017 plans in the coming weeks and we are sure that with the addition of Jonathan we will continue to give the fans exciting fights in Puerto Rico", Maldonado concluded.
"I am very happy with these plans with Black Tiger Promotions because they mean big and meaningful fights only for my career. These are the fights that I was precisely looking for and I am sure that 2017 will be a great year for me. I am ready as always to give a hard battle and represent my island of Puerto Rico", stated Oquendo.
Oquendo's last fight was in December 2015 when he lost a hard fought decision against Argentinian world champion Jesús Cuellar. Prior to that, he decisively defeated legendary Mexican warrior Johnny González by decision.
Black Tiger Promotions also has in its stable 2012 Olympian Jantony Ortiz (5-0; 3KO's) from Humacao, Puerto Rico and current WBC's FECARBOX Super Lightweight Champion and top prospect Yomar Alamo (12-0; 9Ko's). The company staged 2 events in 2016. The first one on August 13th in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, with local Alamo as main event in a complete sell out and then on October 29th in the famed Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan where Juan Manuel López defeated Wilfredo Vázquez Jr. By KO in the 11th round in an all out war before an impressive crowd of over 8,500 wild and exciting fans.
