John Ryder: record, next fight and profile →
Major momentum appears to be building for an all-Mexico matchup between Canelo Alvarez and Jaime Munguia. But first, Munguia must beat John Ryder on Jan. 27 in a way that Alvarez couldn’t last year so that he can get the attention of the undisputed super middleweight champion.
Jaime Munguia is more than ready to step up the competition after years of fighting sub-par opponents. Before his barnburner bout and fight of the year win against Sergiy Derevyanchenko in June, arguably the best win of Munguia's career until then was a 2018 decision victory against Liam Smith.
John Ryder wants to make sure he’s not fighting Jaime Munguia and the three judges come Jan. 27. The British boxer Ryder (32-6, 18 KOs) and the Mexican fighter Munguia (42-0, 33 KOs) will square off for a scrap at the Footprint Center in Phoenix on DAZN.

One of the domestic rivals Callum Smith defeated during his WBA super middleweight championship reign senses Smith is about to pull off an upset Saturday night.
John Ryder is a good fighter but in the eyes of oddsmakers, he couldn’t make the leap to true championship contender. With a handful of losses already smeared onto his record, the betting world had a feeling that he would come up short against Daniel Jacobs in February of 2022. They were wrong. Ultimately, they doubled down in his next appearance against Zach Parker a few months later. They were wrong again.
John Ryder is entering his fourteenth year as a professional fighter. The 35-year-old Londoner understands how the business of boxing works and knows exactly why Jaime Munguia’s team have decided to fight him in Phoenix on January 27th.
LOS ANGELES – Jaime Munguia is looking to take another step up in the development of his promising career when he takes on John Ryder on January 27 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix on DAZN.
