Fielding (26-1, 14 KOs) travels to Germany on July 14 to challenge Tyron Zeuge for the WBA super middleweight title. Swindon’s Jamie Cox (25-2, 14 KOs) was swept aside by a resurgent John Ryder (26-4, 14 early) in two at London’s O2 Arena last Saturday night yet his camp are holding on to the hope that they can lodge an appeal and have the decision reversed after arguing that referee Ian John Lewis fudged the count.
O2 Arena, London - In a super middleweight showdown, John Ryder (26-4, 14 KOs) knocked out Jamie Cox (25-2, 14 KOs) in two rounds. A grueling start with the two domestic rival trading punches at close range. Ryder had the edge as Cox was getting a little too wild. During the second round, Ryder landed a very hard shot to the temple, which sent Cox down on very delayed reaction.
John Ryder and Jamie Cox will clash in a crunch Super-Middleweight battle at The O2 in London on May 5, live on Sky Sports Box Office. John Ryder (25-4, 13 KOs) produced a career-best display to push his credentials for a world title challenge. The former British title challenger outgunned Patrick Nielsen (29-2, 14 KOs) across five rounds at the SSE Arena in London. Ryder boxed the WBA number one contender, exclusively live on ITV Box Office, as part of the undercard to George Groves’ Super WBA super-middleweight title defence against Jamie Cox.
Both Floyd Mayweather and WBA "regular" light heavyweight champ Badou Jack told Swedish media that next up is a fight against Adonis Stevenson, who holds the WBC belt. However, the WBA ruled earlier this month that the winner of Jack vs Nathan Cleverly would have to face interim ruler Dmitry Bivol. If no agreement there will be purse bids on September 11.
