BoxingScene.com has been advised that Johan Perez (15-0-1, 12KOs) vs. Pablo Cesar Cano (24-1-1, 19KOs), taking place on July 21st in Mexico, could have the full WBA 140-pound title on the line. The World Boxing Association is going to make a final ruling in the next few days. Perez is the WBA's interim-champion at 140 and Marcos Maidana is the "regular" champion, but Maidana recently moved up to 147-pounds and does not appear to be moving back down in the near future.

Several opponents are being explored, but Perez's team would still likel to secure veteran contender Michael Katsidis (28-6, 23KOs), who recently dropped an upset ten round majority decision to Albert Mensah.
