Joe Smith Jr.: record, next fight and profile →
By Keith Idec - NEW YORK – Joe DeGuardia joked that he would bet six figures on Joe Smith Jr. if he weren’t co-promoting his light heavyweight champion’s title unification fight against Artur Beterbiev on Saturday night.

WBC/IBF world champion Artur Beterbiev (17-0, 17 KOs) — boxing's only world champion with a 100 percent knockout ratio — will take on Long Island's WBO champion Joe Smith Jr. (28-3, 22 KOs) Saturday evening at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. Joe Smith Jr. always knew Dmitry Bivol had a good chance of upsetting Canelo Alvarez to the extent that he was willing to put some coin behind his opinion.
By Cliff Rold - History’s champion at light heavyweight, at least traced back to the winner of Jean Pascal-Chad Dawson, is already resolved. 37-year old Russian Artur Beterbiev (17-0, 17 KO) captured lineal honors, unifying his IBF belt with the WBC’s with his 2019 knockout of Oleksandr Govozdyk. On Saturday (ESPN, 10 PM EST), Beterbiev will attempt to add another belt to his collection when he faces 32-year old WBO titlist Joe Smith Jr. (28-3, 22 KO).
By Thomas Gerbasi - Blood. In a boxing ring, it’s the great equalizer, maybe even more so than a well-placed left hook to the liver or a right cross to the jaw. When it flows, it can take the one who inflicted the damage to a new level of ferocity, and for the damaged, it might just be the beginning of the end, official or not.
Joe DeGaurdia believes fellow promoter Frank Warren is putting the cart before the horse. DeGuardia, the head of Star Boxing, which promotes WBO light heavyweight titlist Joe Smith Jr., thinks Warren might want to tone down some of his recent comments suggesting that his charge Anthony Yarde is essentially a shoo-in to face the winner of the 175-pound unification bout between Smith and Artur Beterbiev, who holds the WBC and IBF belts.
Frank Warren is hoping to stage the opportunity of a lifetime for his light heavyweight charge Anthony Yarde. Warren, the head of the British promotional company, Queensberry, stated in a recent interview that he is confident that he will be able to help stage a significant 175-pound title fight later in October, in which Yarde faces the winner
Back in 2019, WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol outboxed Joe Smith over twelve rounds - picking up a near shut-out decision on the official cards.
ANTHONY YARDE SAID he is looking to destroy the winner out of the unification battle between Joe Smith jr and Artur Beterbiev in June in a week where he celebrates clocking up seven years as a professional boxer.
WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol is motivated to become the undisputed beltholder at 175-pounds. Next month at the Hulu Theater of Madison Square Garden in New York City, Artur Beterbiev and Joe Smith will collide in WBC, WBA, WBO three belt unification showdown.
