Joe Joyce Knocks Out Alexander Ustinov in Third

Lamex Stadium, Stevenage - In a heavyweight contest, Olympic silver medal winner Joe Joyce (9-0, 9 KOs) had few issues in scoring a third round knockout of Russian giant Alexander Ustinov (34-4, 25 KOs)

Joyce is already set to return on July 13 at the O2 Arena in London, as part of the Dnaiel Dubois-Nathan Gorman undercard.

Coming in to this fight, Ustinov last two in a row - with a TKO defeat to Michael Hunter and a decision loss to Manuel Charr.

Joyce, with new trainer Adam Booth in the corner, was doing a lot of boxing in the first round. He was jabbing, moving and carefully picking his punches. Ustinov landed a few punches that Joyce took well.

Joyce was firing off with big shots in the second round and putting a lot of pressure on Ustinov, who was taking damage and didn't seem to be on steady legs. Ustinov was doing a lot of holding, but not enough punching.

Joyce came out firing again at the start of the third. Ustinov landed a good right hand, and Joyce continued to punch away with both hands. Joyce continued to apply heavy pressure and landed a big left hand, with Ustinov going down against the ropes. Ustinov tried to rise, but he was unable to beat the count in time.

Bantamweight prospect Harvey Horn (6-0, 2 KOs) pulled off a six round decision over Joel Sanchez (4-3). The sole score was 60-54.

Junior middleweight Balazs Bacskai (10-0, 5 KOs) picked up an eight round unanimous decision over Davi Eliasquevici (14-9). The sole score was 80-70.

In what was a major upset, journeyman Lee Hallett, who coming in was 0-16, picked up the first win of his pro career with a four round decision over undefeated Harley Benn (6-1, 1 KOs), who is the son of British legend and former world champion Nigel Benn. The sole score was 39-37.

Just got around to watching this fight. Warren is trying to build the guy into a credible opponent for his stable. It's just not going to happen. I don't know what was more embarrassing. The round one 'rebrand' where he…
YEah that would have basically ended his career before it started
Maybe Joyce vs Breazeale would be a good match up next?

ustinov bounced off the ropes right into that left hand. it was probably the only way enough momentum could be generated to knock him down since joyce is so slow. but joyces right hand laser ko's wilder

The guy that manages him should cash in on him now , IF he can of course ..gonna be hard thou his personality is as slow as his right hand
