Joe Hughes: record, next fight and profile →
The newly formed Matchroom Boxing Italy and OPI Since 82 join forces for a big show in Italy on November 30 headlined by a fight for the vacant EBU super lightweight title between Andrea Scarpa, 23-4, and Joe Hughes, 16-3-1.
Romanian cruiserweight Alexandru Jur suffered a crushing one round knockout loss this past weekend against noted puncher Dmitry Kudryashov in Kemerovo (Russia). This loss cost him the position as mandatory challenger for the EBU title held by Belgian Yves Ngabu, 19-0, and opened the door for an all-Belgian showdown between Ngabu and Ryad Merhy, 25-1.
Wiltshire-based Joe Hughes (16-3-1, 7 KOs) has been left in boxing limbo after it emerged that his team’s bid to stage the BBBoC mandated final eliminator for the British light-welterweight title was not processed correctly. The Board had matched the 27-year-old against Ennis Brown, but Brown has since withdrew himself from the process, leaving Hughes pondering his next move.
