Top welterweight contender Amir Khan (30-3, 19KOs) hopes to land big opportunities in 2015, first with WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May and then with WBO champion Manny Pacquiao in the fall. Khan returned last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and dominated former two division champion Devon Alexander over twelve rounds of action.
"The plan would be the Mayweather fight in May, because he likes to fight in May," Khan, who has stepped up from his previous light welterweight category, told Sky Sports News HQ. "I've proven my point and my position in the world of boxing and now I've fought twice in the welterweight division.
"This time last year, I was very close to getting a fight with Mayweather. It didn't happen but now I've proven myself, I think that fight would be ideal for me. I think I've got the style to cause him a lot of problems.
"Then at the end of the year I'd love the Manny Pacquiao fight - I think that fight could definitely happen and I'd be confident I could win that. I think it's a great time to catch those guys."
