It may be the last time we see former WBO super featherweight champion Mike Anchondo (27-2, 19 KOs) as a serious contender. In what many felt was a "safe" fight, if there is even such a thing anymore, Anchondo was knocked out in a lightweight contest by Darling Jimenez (23-2-2, 14 KOs) in the main event of an ESPN2 Friday Night Fights card at the Armory in Washington, DC.

Jimenez would have probably stopped Anchondo in two rounds, but after sending him down to the mat, the round was prematurely stopped a minute early and prevented Jiminez from finishing Anchondo off. No worries because a left hook in the third round sent Anchondo down and out for full count.
