After years of bad blood between two Reno, Nevada rivals, Joey Gilbert (17-2, 13KOs) was dominated by Jesse Brinkley (33-5, 22KOs), losing a lopsided twelve round decision at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada. The rivalry began several years ago on the reality series “The Contender.” It marked Gilbert's third bout since returning from a 2007 suspension for a failed drug test in the aftermath of his knockout win over Charles Howe. The scores were 120-107, 120-107 and 119-108.

According to reports, Brinkley, took the fight to Gilbert from the start and taunted him at times to fight. During the fifth, Gilbert was dropped by a right cross that may have broken his nose and it never stopped bleeding for the rest of the fight. Brinkley is now looking to earn his way to a major title shot.
