Mohegan Sun, CT. - In a unification clash for the WBC, IBF, WBA junior middleweight titles, Jermell Charlo (34-1, 18 KOs) knocked out Jeison Rosario (20-2-1, 14 KOs) in the eight round. Rosario had been down three times in the contest.

Charlo came out jabbing and utilizing the jab. A series of shots sent Rosario down. Rosario was able to shake it off and was pressing forward upon rising. Both came out firing in the second. Both were having their moments. Rosario was digging a lot to the body.

Rosario came out jabbing in the third. Charlo came back with his own jab. Rosario began to apply a lot of pressure and was outworking Charlo. A stiff jab for Charlo in the fourth. Rosario continued to press and was making Charlo work.

At the start of the fifth, Rosario came out firing with hard shots. Rosario was still targeting the body. A very lose sixth, but at the end of the round Charlo landed a big left that sent Rosario down at the bell for the second knockdown.

In the seventh, Rosario wasn't doing that much as he was recovering from the prior round. He was still pressing forward as Charlo was landing counters. At the start of the eight, Charlo hit Rosario to the belly with a power jab and he went down for the full count. Rosario seemed to have a minor seizure from the shot.
