Jeff Horn and Tim Tszyu were supposed to square off in an all-Australia showdown in April. The fight, along with almost every other sporting event in the world was put on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The hope is that the fight can be rescheduled for either late summer or in the fall but nothing is set in stone at the moment.
While he would have rather already faced the undefeated son of the legendary Kostya Tszyu, Horn admitted that the extra time away from the ring has been good for his body.
"It has been good having this break because I have had bad cuts and things the last couple of fights and I have needed time to heal those. They have been grueling as well, especially a big guy like Michael Zerafa at middleweight. They were 2 very tough fights. To get the extra rest and freshen up for another big fight has done me a world of good," Horn recently told Fighthype.com.
The fight was expected to be a huge event in Australia and pull in several thousands of spectators. Because of that, Horn isn’t really sure if the fight can go in without a crowd.
"Look, I don't think so. I think the gate money is important as well but people might be sitting at home. They aren't doing too much at home so maybe they really want to watch a fight and say they want to buy a pay-per-view instead. Who knows. You are only allowed to have 5 people at your house at the moment so most likely the pay-per-views will be higher if we do do it that way but a stadium fight is always a bigger fight. Especially for the fighters we definitely go to a different level for the crowd," Horn explained.
A potential comeback by former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has dominated the the headlines the past few weeks. Horn isn’t sure how well a comeback would go for Tyson but he is very impressed with the shape he has worked himself into.
"I still wouldn't want to be getting in front of him even at his age now. He is looking great on the pads and you don't know what he would look like going against another man but he definitely looks great," said Horn.
