Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) reached an agreement this past Friday with MG Ring Productions, to stage a fight between the former WBC light heavyweight world champion Jean Pascal (33-5-1, 20 KOs) and Canadian cruiserweight champion Gary Kopas (10-11-2, 5 KOs).

The 12-round cruiserweight bout will be held on November 9 in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

It will be a second consecutive outing at cruiserweight for Pascal, and he will try to get his hands on a title and feels very determined to become a player at the weight.

The President of MG Ring Productions George Reynolds and the President of GYM, Yvon Michel, have negotiated for a little over a month and finally came to come to an agreement. GYM represented Jean Pascal and his advisor Greg Leon for this fight.

"Jean Pascal is a man of challenges and when he realized the seriousness of Kopas and his organization, he decided as usual to take it up," said the president of GYM, Yvon Michel.

"At this point in my career, it's very important for me to stay active. We had other plans that unfortunately fell into the water at the last minute but, fortunately, the fight with Kopas came," added Jean Pascal.

"Kopas has not lost in a few years and I will not take it lightly. I know he will come to surprise the world and try to ruin my career, but everyone who knows me knows that his career will end on November 9.

The former champion will be looking for a third straight win, a second straight triumph at cruiserweight and a fourth win in five fights under coach Stephan Larouche.

During his last presence in the ring, on July 20 at Place Bell in Laval, Pascal knocked out Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tough guy Steve "The Boss" Bossed in the eighth round.

Kopas had lost a few fights at light heavyweight, but since moving up to cruiserweight in 2015 - he's won six fights in a row.
