LOS ANGELES – Ryan Garcia had to force the action in his last fight against Emmanuel Tagoe, having to chase the Ghanaian contender around the ring to press the issue.
By Cliff Rold - Charisma and star power are funny things. Ryan Garcia has plenty of both. After a 2021 knockout of Luke Campbell, the substance beneath those profitable intangibles began to emerge. Whether his talent is ultimately a match for his potential as a draw remains to be seen.
Ryan Garcia thinks Javier Fortuna may be a bit soft around the center heading into their fight Saturday night. Both fighters stripped down to their underwear and tipped the scales in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon, with Garcia weighing 140 pounds and Fortuna weighing 139.8 pounds.

LOS ANGELES – Ryan Garcia’s size advantage over Javier Fortuna was on full display Friday at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.
LOS ANGELES – This wasn’t about Ryan Garcia gaining an advantage over a smaller fighter. Javier Fortuna’s promoter informed BoxingScene.com on Thursday that it was actually their side that requested a higher weight limit for their 12-round fight Saturday night at Crypto.com Arena. Fortuna felt he didn’t have enough time to get down to the 135-pound limit for a lightweight fight, therefore they agreed to box at the junior welterweight maximum of 140 pounds.
By Keith Idec - LOS ANGELES – As the proverbial “B” side of this promotion, Javier Fortuna feels he cannot allow his 12-round fight with Ryan Garcia to go the distance. The Dominican southpaw suspects that no matter what transpires against Garcia, he won’t be able to beat the popular lightweight contender on the scorecards Saturday night at Crypto.com Arena.
Former world champion Javier “El Abejon” Fortuna (37-3-1, 26 KOs) believes Ryan Garcia (22-0, 18 KOs) is way too focused on a future meeting with superstar fighter Gervonta 'Tank' Davis.
LOS ANGELES – Ryan Garcia has as much raw talent as anyone in the sport. Garcia (22-0, 18 KOs) has mostly relied on fast hands and power to punish his opponents throughout his six-year career. At times, the touted star has overly tapped into his supreme skills and thus created bad habits.
Undefeated lightweight contender Ryan Garcia (22-0, 18KOs) of Victorville, CA, and former two-time world champion Javier “El Abejon” Fortuna (37-3-1, 26 KOs) are days away from colliding in a 12-round showdown, this Saturday night at the Crypto.com Arena in Downtown Los Angeles.
