Britain's Jason Welborn (24-6, 7 KOs) gets the opportunity of a lifetime when he challenges Jarrett Hurd (22-0, 15 KOs) for the IBF and WBA Super Welterweight titles on December 1.

The fight takes place on the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury undercard at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

Although unconfirmed, rumours are circulating that British heavyweight Joe Joyce will face Joe Hanks and former Wilder foe Luis Ortiz will take on Travis Kauffman on the same show on December 1.

Welborn recently vacated his British Middleweight title which he won from fellow West Midlander Tommy Langford in May. Welborn subsequently defended his Lonsdale belt in their rematch in September. Both fights were thrillers with the first contest winning the British Boxing Board of Control's Fight of the Year Award for 2018 last month.

Writing on his Instagram page Welborn, confirmed the news saying: "I will be fighting Jarrett Hurd for the IBF, WBA, IBO world titles on the #furywilder undercard on December 1 live from Staples Centre on Showtime Boxing PPV. #2018 My year."

Hurd's defence of his titles will be his first fight since April when he successfully defended his IBF crown and took the WBA belt from Erislandy Lara at the same time, winning a split decision verdict against the Cuban. Hurd has since been out of action recovering from surgery on a torn rotator cuff which he suffered during his preparations for his fight against Lara.

No news yet on who will face Mark Heffron (21-0, 17 KOs) for Welborn's vacant British Middleweight title on the December 22 Josh Warrington-Carl Frampton undercard in Manchester. Boxing Scene understands that Frank Warren is in talks with an opponent for the unbeaten 26-year-old and confirmation could come in the next few days.
