Ashton under Lyne’s Jon Kays has been added to the undercard of Jason Booth’s October 22nd British super-bantamweight title defence. Booth faces undefeated contender Scott Quigg in Bolton with Kays set to take promotional stable mate Brian Rose’s slot on the bill.
JASON BOOTH has been told by his own promoter that he will be in the last chance saloon when he meets Scott Quigg next month.
Scott Quigg moved closer to a world title fight after beating Franklin Varella in a world title eliminator. The 22-year-old from Bury defended his WBA superbantamweight intercontinental title with a seventh round technical knock out of the Venezuelan.
At the Plaza de Toros La Cubierta in Comunidad de Madrid, Spain, Kiko Martinez (25-3, 18KOs) capture the vacant EBU super bantamweight title with a tenth round stoppage of Jason Booth (36-7, 15KOs). In the tenth, a left hand hurt Booth very badly and ended the fight as the referee had seen enough.
Promoter Frank Maloney is planning a clash between close pals Rendall Munroe and Jason Booth this summer.
Jason Booth must beat Kiko Martinez in his own backyard if he is to claim the vacant European super-bantamweight crown next month.
Jason Booth's reward for his hard-fought victory over Jamie Arthur earlier this month is a crack at the vacant European super-bantamweight title. Nottingham's British and Commonwealth 8st 10lbs champion, who has come up short in three previous attempts to land the continental strap, will now meet iron-fisted Spaniard Kiko Martinez for the belt, probably in May.
Jason Booth retained his British super-bantamweight title, adding the commonwealth belt to boot, with a split-decision win over Jamie Arthur.
