James Metcalf: record, next fight and profile →
FRANK WARREN WILL serve up a treble of top title action on October 10, live on BT Sport, featuring soon-to-be world middleweight title challenger Liam Williams, British welterweight champion Anthony Cacace and Commonwealth super welterweight ruler JJ Metcalf.
James Metcalf has been crying out for a big opportunity. The Commonwealth super-welterweight champion has boxed just once since winning the title back in June last year. Metcalf stopped Jason Welborn in Leeds and followed up his biggest win to date with a spell on the sidelines to repair a hand injury. He was back last month and took just 32 seconds to get rid of the vastly overmatched Jan Balog at the Grand Central Hall in his home city of Liverpool to move to 21-0 with 13 quick.
James Metcalf will return to the ring next month after a spell on the sidelines. The Commonwealth super-welterweight champion is undefeated in 20 fights and was last in action in June last year. Metcalf, who has 12 quick finishes on his ledger, stopped Jason Welborn to win the vacant rainbow belt at the First Direct Arena in Leeds in his last fight and was forced out for a period in the aftermath to repair a troublesome hand injury.
JJ Metcalf is now 20-0 after scoring the best win of his career, over former world title challenger Jason Welborn. Liverpool’s Metcalf secured the vacant Commonwealth super-welterweight title when he landed a peach of a left hook into Welborn’s side to conclude matters after 2-25 of round eight.
RECENT world title challenger Jason Welborn and JJ Metcalf will clash for the vacant Commonwealth super-welterweight championship at the First Direct Arena, Leeds on Saturday June 15. The exciting 12 rounder takes place on the undercard of Josh Warrington’s IBF world featherweight title defence against mandatory challenger, Kid Galahad.
JJ Metcalf will defend his WBC International super-welterweight title against Liam Williams when they clash on December 22nd at the Manchester Arena on the undercard of Josh Warrington’s world title defence against Carl Frampton.
Liam Williams will be hoping for a shot at the big-time sooner rather than later after snapping a hiatus with an early finish. The super-welterweight took apart Craig Nicholson inside an eventful two rounds on Friday night. Williams headlined the ‘New Beginnings’ card promoted by MTK Global, exclusively live on iFL TV, at the Vale Sports Arena in Cardiff.
Former British and Commonwealth light-middleweight champion Liam Williams is delighted at the prospect of increased exposure for Welsh boxing. MTK Global puts on its first show in Wales on Friday night; streamed live on iFL TV and featuring Williams (17-2-1-KO12) alongside Welsh team-mates Sean McGoldrick and Jacob Robinson.
Liam Williams has called out James Metcalf. The former British, Commonwealth and WBO European super-welterweight champion got back to winning ways recently. Williams, 26, stopped Darryll Sharp inside three rounds back in April as he snapped a winless period of 12 months in which he suffered two defeats at the hands of former world champion Liam Smith.
Manchester Arena - Oldham middleweight Mark Hefron (now 20-0) stopped on-form Midlander Andrew ‘D'animal' Robinson in six rounds to win the vacant WBC International title.
