James DeGale: record, next fight and profile →
George Groves (25-3, 18 KOs) is very focused on finalizing a deal to fight Fedor Chudinov for the vacant WBA super middleweight world title. The World Boxing Association ordered the two boxers to collide for the belt that was vacated by Felix Sturm last year.
“I had James winning the fight by three rounds, and I’ve watched the fight back a few times.” The words of Jim McDonnell, once a world title challenger himself and the man who has guided James DeGale’s career since he turned professional in 2009. The former European featherweight champion is adamant that his charge was the winner in last week’s spectacular unification contest against Badou Jack. One judge saw the Londoner as the victor by a score of 114-112 while the other two saw a draw at 113-113. While reflecting back on the hugely entertaining contest, McDonnell gave BoxingScene.com a behind-the-scenes look at the fight from his perspective.
Chris Eubank Jr. (23-1, 18 KOs) is moving up to the super middleweight division on February 4th, when he challenges IBO world champion Renold Quinlan in London. Eubank Jr. is still planning to take fights at the middleweight of 160. He says the move to super middleweight is to expand his potential fight options.

Last Saturday’s card at Barclays Center included a highly competitive, fun fight between super middleweight...
I don’t think anyone can have too many complaints over the unification clash between James DeGale and Badou Jack being scored a draw. When there are so many conflicting cards floating around at ringside it is difficult to make a compelling case either way and the logical outcome is normally just to do it again.
Super middleweight: The initial intent here was to elevate Badou Jack to the top slot after securing a draw in a fight where he appeared to win more rounds. Jack’s decision to vacate his alphabet title was consistent with his commitment to compete at light heavyweight and he exits the top ten. James DeGale moves over Gilberto Ramirez. WBA titlist Tyron Zeuge enters the top ten.
New York - If there is anyone who knows the importance and history of the super middleweight division in the United Kingdom - it is retired former world champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KO’s). During the final years of his career, Froch took the torch from Welshman Joe Calzaghe (46-0, 32 KO’s), who many feel is one of the greatest fighters to ever compete at 168 pounds.
IBF super middleweight champion, James DeGale, had a surprise visitor at his hotel room last Saturday night in Brooklyn, New York. Over the weekend, at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, DeGale fought to a twelve round majority draw with WBC champion Badou Jack, who is promoted by retired former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
James DeGale recently arrived back in the UK after last weekend’s fight against Badou Jack. The Hammersmith man, now based in St Albans, retained his IBF super-middleweight world title as he battled to a majority draw with the Swedish-born WBC king in their unification showdown.
An average of 454,000 viewers watched the James DeGale-Badou Jack fight Saturday night on Showtime, according to figures released Wednesday by Nielsen Media Research.
