Jamel Herring: record, next fight and profile →
Jamel Herring and Carl Frampton are going to face each other on February 27th, at least according to the latest news. The event is yet to have a venue, but it is planned to get staged in London, England.
The first major fight of 2021 for Queensberry Promotions is one where the company is hardly guaranteed to leave with a world champion under its banner. Jamel Herring will cross the Atlantic to defend his junior lightweight title versus former two-division champ Carl Frampton atop a BT Sport-aired event taking place Feb. 27 at a location to be determined in London. The oft-postponed title clash will mark the first ring appearance for both fighters since separate showcase fights last summer.
FIRST THINGS FIRST, a belated Happy New Year to you all. Some of you may have heard from a couple of interviews I did on Monday that I saw in 2021 from the confines of the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, having been struck down by Covid-19 just after Christmas.
Jamel Herring insists it won’t be a history-making moment for Carl Frampton ahead of their WBO super-featherweight title showdown next month. Herring (22-2, 10 KOs) defends his world title against Frampton (28-2, 16 KOs) in London on February 27, live in the UK on BT Sport.

Shakur Stevenson is not interested in waiting any longer than legally required in his pursuit of a second divisional crown. The former featherweight titlist remains the number-one contender to the WBO 130-pound strap currently held by Jamel Herring. With that status came disappointment upon learning that Herring plans to still proceed with a voluntary title defense versus former two-division champ Carl Frampton, with their announced bout due to take place Feb. 27 in London.

Carl Frampton’s quest to become Northern Ireland’s first-ever three-division titlist is no laughing matter, though his recent comments were amusing to his next opponent. The former two-division titlist from Belfast is brimming with confidence ahead of his forthcoming showdown with reigning 130-pound titlist Jamel Herring. A working date of February 6 is in place at a location to be determined in the United Kingdom, though the date is fluid at the moment as the fight has already moved at least three times in the past several months.
Former two division champion Carl Frampton is already training hard for a 2021 title clash with WBO super featherweight champion Jamel Herring. Their fight is being tabbed for February 6 in London. There is talk the contest could get pushed to February 20, because Josh Warrington could potentially defend his IBF featherweight crown on the same night.
Hard-hitting super featherweight contender Jeremiah Nakathila has finished the bittersweet year of 2020 on a high. The Namibian, who is currently ranked No. 3 by the WBO at 130 pounds, put his WBO Global title on the line against Emmanuel Amos last Saturday in his hometown of Windhoek, Namibia.
