Jai Opetaia: record, next fight and profile →
Jai Opetaia’s next fight will be decided one way or another. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that a November 21 purse bid hearing is scheduled for the ordered IBF (and lineal) cruiserweight championship rematch between Opetaia as the defending champ and former three-time titlist Mairis
Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom believes IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia is without question the king of the cruiserweight castle.
2023 has been a year packed with really good fights and some major events. When it comes to the latter, the dominance of the victors has been a notable trend. Some of the richest, most anticipated fights in the world this year were notable in part because of how wide the winning margins were between the strands.
Moments after dismantling Jordan Thompson inside four one-sided rounds at Wembley Arena last night, IBF and Ring Magazine cruiserweight champion, Jai Opetaia, caught the eye of a familiar face at ringside.
The top two stated targets were both ringside for Jai Opetaia’s latest win. Unfortunately, the lineal and IBF cruiserweight champion will likely have to settle for the less desirable option for his next outing.

Jai Opetaia ended an unwelcome layoff with a sensational first title defense. The unbeaten lineal and IBF cruiserweight champion made work of Jordan Thompson, whom he stopped in the fourth round. Opetaia scored two knockdowns, the latter which forced the stoppage at 0:20 of round four in their DAZN-aired main event Saturday evening from OVO Arena Wembley in London.

The challenge of 6’6” cruiserweight Jordan Thompson awaits the division’s reigning lineal and IBF king, who attempts his first title defense this weekend on DAZN from OVO Arena Wembley in London. The bout is the first for Sydney’s Opetaia

Jai Opetaia and Jordan Thompson are set for their championship clash. The pair of unbeaten cruiserweights both easily made weight for Saturday’s DAZN main event from OVO Arena Wembley in London. Sydney’s Opetaia was 198.6 pounds in the first defense of his lineal and IBF crown, while the Manchester-bred, London-based Thompson packed 198.9 pounds onto his 6’6” frame.
