Jack Culcay vs. Rafael Bejaran Set For September 22

By Per Ake Persson

Former WBA super welterweight champ Jack Culcay, 24-3, continues his comeback with a showdown against Rafael Bejaran on September 22 in Potsdam, writes BILD. It is said to be a IBF eliminator at middleweight.

Culcay is now promoted by Agon Sports and trained by Torsten Schmitz.

Bejaran, 25-2-1, comes from the Dominican Republic but is based in Hamburg and held the WBFederation super welterweight title until recently.

Wiking Boxteam stage the annual Fritz Sdunek Memorial on September 8 in Zinnowitz. Topping the bill is IBF Int´l super featherweight champ Serif Gurdijeljac, 17-4, who takes on Finnish veteran Tuomo Eronen, 20-5.

Sdunek became after his own fighting career was over one of the best trainers in then East Germany and later moved to Hamburg to join Universum where he trained a number of excellent fighters - and he brought many of them to Zinnowitz for the training camp with focus on conditioning.

WBO I/C heavyweight champ Tom Schwarz, 21-0, takes on Mexican Julian Fernandez, 10-0, in the headliner of SES promotion in Magdeburg September 15. Lightheavy Adam Deines, 15-0-1, co-headlines and is in against Spaniard Mustafa Chadlioui, 12-3-2.

IN OTHER NEWS: Tyler Denny takes on Reece Cartwright for the English Middleweight Title at Walsall Town Hall on Saturday, 22nd September.

The Midlands Area Champion headlines BCB Promotions’ latest show at the Town Hall as he bids for national honours.

Unbeaten Denny, a product of Old Hill Boxing Club in Cradley Heath, didn’t turn pro until he was 24 and has since won nine out of 11 contests, with back-to-back draws along the way.

Co-challenger Reece Cartwright, from Leeds, has racked up 22 bouts of pro experience at the age of 24, with 21 wins and 12 TKOs to his credit.

The former IBF Youth titleist has a blemish on his record, though, after he was shockingly downed by the unheralded Rafael Chiruta in less than a round last year.
