Jack Catterall: record, next fight and profile →
Jack Catterall couldn’t take out a 38-year-old, faded former champion Saturday night, but he is completely confident he will end Josh Taylor’s career if Taylor fights him next.
Promoter Eddie Hearn sees a lot of sense in making a rematch now between Jack Catterall and Josh Taylor. Last Saturday night, Catterall, the 140-pound contender from England, defeated veteran Jorge Linares over 12 rounds at Echo Arena in Liverpool.

The bad blood continues to boil between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterrall. Moments after defeating veteran Jorge Linares by unanimous decision on Saturday night, Catterall called out his longtime nemesis to a rematch.
Jack Catterall craftily outpointed a faded former champion just as easily Saturday night as oddsmakers indicated he would before they entered the ring in Liverpool, England.

Jorge Linares didn’t look like a 38-year-old fighter who has lost three straight fights when he stepped on the scale Friday afternoon in Liverpool, England. The former three-division champion appeared to have had every bit the tremendous training camp he claimed a day earlier when he weighed in exactly at the junior welterweight limit of 140 pounds for his fight against Jack Catterall on Saturday night.
By Keith Idec - Jorge Linares has had a lot of success against British boxers promoted by Matchroom. Victories over Kevin Mitchell, Anthony Crolla and Luke Campbell have helped define the former three-division champion’s career over the past eight years. The hard-hitting Venezuelan veteran hopes to add a younger, fresher Jack Catterall to his list of English conquests Saturday night in what could be the last significant fight of Linares’ long career if he loses.
