Jack Catterall: I'm Confident That I'd Beat Hooker, Take His Title

Rising Super-Lightweight star Jack Catterall watched with a close eye as Maurice Hooker defeated Terry Flanagan in Manchester.

While Catterall has a tricky fight in Belfast on June 30th, the Chorley talent hopes to challenge the new WBO World Super-Lightweight Champion in the near future.

Speaking on the BoxNation Podcast, Catterall insisted he would be able to beat the American should they meet.

"100 percent. I thought Terry would've done it at the weekend. I know when you figure a fighter out, it's pretty straightforward. He didn't adapt well to what Hooker was doing.

"Again, I wouldn't overlook Tyrone [McKenna] but they're the kind of fights I want to be involved in. From watching Hooker I'd be confident of going there and taking that title from him," added the former British Champion.

Catterall defends his WBO Inter-Continental belt against McKenna on the undercard of Michael Conlan's highly-anticipated homecoming, live on BoxNation.

Recently, McKenna said that he feels Catterall may be overlooking him, but 'El Gato' insists that is not the case. "Tyrone is a 6ft southpaw. I always believe that a fighter has to be able to adapt. Once the bell goes I'll soon have him figured out, and I'm going over there to get the victory."

Travelling to his opponent's hometown clearly does not faze the 24-year-old. He beat Tom Stalker in Liverpool in 2014, and took Tyrone Nurse's British Title in Leeds last October.

"It doesn't matter where the boxing ring is in the world, once that bell goes it's just me and that fighter in the ring," he added.

I'd lean Catterall as well, he's got a big fight to focus on next week though

Jack’s last opponent broke down about 2 minutes into their fight. Not even sure if Catterall is good. Have the fighters been decided for WBSS at this weight yet?
