The super middleweight Joeshon James will have to wait even longer to face the undefeated Lester Martinez after an illness has derailed their contest again.
Martinez-James had been scheduled for Saturday at the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas. It is being tentatively planned to next be organised for a ProBox TV promotion on March 22 in San Bernadino, California.
James, the 26 year old from Sacramento, California, was previously set to fight Martinez on September 11. They got as far as weighing in, but Martinez, 29, withdrew on the day of the fight, owing to illness.
James, 9-0-2 (5 KOs), fought only once in 2024 when in February winning a unanimous decision over Vaughn Alexander. The fight would have marked a nearly year long layoff for him.
Guatemala’s Martinez, 18-0 (15 KOs) fought twice in 2024. His past win was via unanimous decision, over the veteran contender Carlos Gongora in June.
