At the Prefectural Gymnasium in Osaka, Hugo Cazares (31-6-2, 22 KOs) of Mexico got his revenge with a twelve round unanimous decision over Nobuo Nashiro (13-2-1, 8 KOs) to win the WBA super flyweight title and became a two division champion. Vic Darchinyan is the WBA's super champion at the weight and Nonito Donaire is the interim-champion. The scores were 117-111, 115-113 and 117-111.

Last September they fought to a close controversial draw at the same venue. The WBA ordered the rematch after a petition from Cazares' camp. This time there was no controversy. Nashiro was dominated for much of the fight. Cazares was much busier and throwing harder punches. He never stopped working or allowed the hometown champion to change the pace to get any advantage. There was a lot of action in the fight and it wouldn't surprise anyone to see a trilogy fight in Mexico this time.
