Ted Cheeseman has confirmed his next ring appearance.
The undefeated Bermondsey man will be back in action in less than five weeks’ time.
Cheeseman (7-0, 6 KOs) was last in the squared circle on November 26, live on Sky Sports, when he ousted Lloyd Ellett inside two rounds in an eliminator for the English super-welterweight title at Wembley’s SSE Arena.
Next, though, the 21-year-old will face an altogether bigger test as he has been confirmed as an addition to a card which will be aired on Sky Sports Box Office.
‘Cheddar’, as his promoter Eddie Hearn refers to him, will punch for pay for an eighth time on March 4 at London’s O2 Arena, as part of the supporting cast to David Haye’s heavyweight showdown against WBC cruiserweight king Tony Bellew.
An opponent and the finer details of Cheeseman’s next outing have yet to be revealed, but Boxing Scene understands that the youngster, who made his debut in 2015, is knocking on the door for his first title shot and that it could come on that show.
Cheeseman’s fight on the big pay-per-view card, which was confirmed by the man himself on social media, will be flanked by Sam Eggington’s defence of the WBC International welterweight title against former world title challenger Paulie Malignaggi and Derry Mathews’ highly-anticipated clash with Ohara Davies for the 24-year-old’s WBC Silver super-lightweight crown.
Further additions to the card will be confirmed in due course and aforementioned Matchroom chief Hearn has said that the bill will feature debuts of Olympians, with new signings expected in the coming days and weeks.
