Former WBA world heavyweight champion David Haye has shot down Tyson Fury's claims that his edge in size will be too much for the Londoner when the pair meet in Manchester on September 28. The 32-year-old is six inches shorter and 40-pounds lighter than Fury, but, no stranger to facing big opponents, is relishing the chance to once again play David versus Goliath. “If Fury is relying on size and strength to win this fight, he's in for a rude awakening,” said 'The Hayemaker', clocking in at 6'3 and 215-pounds. “Fury might be taller and heavier, but that doesn't mean he's stronger than me. And it certainly doesn't mean he hits harder than me. In fact, I'm pretty sure, based on our track records, that one of my shots will do twice the damage of one of his.

David Haye has mocked Tyson Fury's claim that he will pursue a kickboxing bout just one month after their boxing showdown on September 28. Haye will battle his bitter rival live on Sky Sports Box Office in front of a packed Manchester Arena, but Fury has already made plans for a kickboxing contest in October, regardless of whether he wins or loses this month. Having learnt Karate as a youngster, Haye is also handy with his feet, but the Londoner insists his fists will be enough to dish out a first defeat to Fury. "If it was allowed, I'd let Tyson use his head, shoulders, knees and toes against me on September 28," said Haye. "He'll need all of those sharp edges just to make the fight competitive.

Fury, who was born in Wythenshawe, has expressed his belief that he is good enough to see off not only Londoner Haye but also Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, the Ukrainian brothers currently holding all of the heavyweight world titles between them. And retired former two-weight world champion Hatton, while admitting Fury may well find Haye too tough to handle, has every hope his fellow Mancunian can achieve major global success.
