On paper, Oleksandr Usyk would appear to have the clear-cut edge over Daniel Dubois. As the two put their heads down on their respective beds for one final night, they will both go over their game plans one last time.

Up until this point, no one has been able to safely put together the pieces that Usyk presents them with. The befuddling punch selection and wizard-like defense he displays have allowed him to capture world titles as a cruiserweight and now, of course, as a heavyweight.

Oddsmakers have dissected their showdown. To a large extent, every bookmaker is siding with Usyk. Still, even with the betting world going against him, David Haye believes that it isn’t out of the realm of possibility for Dubois to pick up the win. In addition to the British contender's own set of strong skills, Haye is hoping that Usyk’s age, 36, along with the long career he’s had as an amateur and pro, will allow Dubois to catch up to the aging champion.

“He’s gonna have to do the unthinkable,” said Haye during a self-recorded video recently. “He’s really gonna have to really put the heat on Usyk, use his superior frame, his size, his freshness. Usyk had a long amateur career, many, many tough cruiserweight fights. He’s had some tough heavyweight fights.”

Tough fights or not, Usyk has always found a way to get the job done. When last seen, the former Olympic gold medalist closed the chapter on his rivalry with Anthony Joshua - beating the former champ via decision for the second consecutive time.

Dubois, on the other hand, has rebuilt his career the hard way. After suffering defeat at the hands of Joe Joyce, the 25-year-old has reeled off three consecutive victories.

While he’s looked spectacular, Haye doesn’t want Dubois to stand on the back foot and play chess with the unified champ. Instead, Haye wants his fellow Brit to dig his hands in the dirt and use every tactic possible. Regardless if it’s by the book or not.

“He doesn’t want to allow Usyk to do his tricks. He needs to grab him, get points deducted if need be. He’s got to drag Usyk into a very, very uncomfortable situation.”
