It’s normal for fighters to take a look at their competition before they face them in the ring. It’s all about getting themselves familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of what their opponent brings to the table. Richardson Hitchins, nevertheless, does things a bit differently.

At the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on Saturday April 6. New York Super-Lightweight ace Richardson Hitchins (17-0, 7 KOs) looks to build on his shutout points win over Jose Zepeda at the Caribe Royal Orlando last September when he takes on Argentina’s Gustavo Daniel Lemos (29-0, 19 KOs) in a Final Eliminator for the IBF World Title.

Gustavo Lemos is no longer in the lightweight title picture. IBF officials have confirmed to BoxingScene.com that the unbeaten Argentinean lightweight is no longer the mandatory challenger. The most recent ratings update saw Lemos removed altogether from the IBF Top 15 after he blew weight and was forced out of a planned August 18 stay-busy bout in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

An effort by Gustavo Lemos to shake off ring rust has not only failed but could also jeopardize his current contender status. The unbeaten Argentinean lightweight badly missed weight which killed plans for a bout versus countryman Javier Jose Clavero. The two were due to meet Friday on a TyC Deportes telecast from Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires. However, Lemos was pulled from the show after he arrived eight pounds over the contracted limit and was unable to comply with a post weigh-in agreement to weigh 140 pounds.

On Saturday night, Argentine contender Gustavo "El Eléctrico" Lemos (28-0, 18 KOs) made a big statement in the junior welterweight division, as he knocked out former world champion Lee Selby in the fifth round at Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
