Last Saturday night, Carl Frampton (22-0, 14KOs) unified the WBA/IBF super bantamweight world titles with a twelve round unanimous decision over longtime rival Scott Quigg at the Manchester Arena.

After his masterful victory over Scott Quigg in Saturday’s unification bout at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, Lancashire, England, WBA/IBF super bantamweight champion Carl “The Jackal” Frampton (22-0, 14 KOs) expressed interest in possibly moving up in weight to fight WBA Super World featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz.

For the past few days I have been trying to reach esteemed trainer Pedro Diaz who is in Europe for two interesting fights on March 5 and March 12. Travel, time zones and training schedules made it difficult but on Sunday afternoon I caught up with the Cuban and his star pupil Guillermo Rigondeaux (16-0, 10 KOs) following an early evening meal in preparation for their usual 10pm training session.

Two-Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux (16-0, 10KOs) was not impressed by today's super bantamweight unification at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. IBF champion Carl Frampton added Scott Quigg's WBA super bantamweight belt by winning their unification fight by split decision on Saturday.

Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg have sold out the Manchester Arena and had to turn fans away from their public weigh-in due to intense demand yet Guillermo Rigondeaux (16-0, 10 early) has had to make do with a spot on the undercard of Terry Flanagan versus Derry Mathews in Liverpool next month despite being the divison's consensus number one.

Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg will meet for the IBF and WBA World Super-Bantamweight titles at the Manchester Arena on Saturday February 27 2016. The eagerly anticipated showdown between the British rivals will have the pair putting titles, unbeaten records and bragging rights on the line in the blockbuster

South African super-puncher Zolani Tete says he’d love to take on pound-for-pound megastar Guillermo Rigondeaux. The former IBF World Super-Flyweight Champion from Mdanste in the Eastern Cape will feature on the same action-packed card as the unbeaten Cuban at the Liverpool Echo Arena on Saturday 12th March, live and exclusive on BoxNation.

From the moment the announcement dropped of World super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux next facing James "Jazza" Dickens – the immediate reaction came in the form of a one-word question: Why? At age 35 and anxious to stay more active than has been the case really since turning pro nearly seven years ago, Rigondeaux answers the question with one of his own:

Even with the benefit of hometown advantage, James "Jazza" Dickens is well aware of the challenge that awaits him. The 24-year old southpaw steps way up in class as he welcomes World super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux to his hometown for their March 12 clash at Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.

Despite not remaining very active, Guillermo Rigondeaux has managed to regularly remain in the headlines over the past couple of years. The unbeaten World super bantamweight champion returned to the ring last November, outpointing Drian Francisco over 10 rounds in a bout devoid of action in capping a forgettable 2015 campaign.
