After years of looking for a big break, Guillermo Jones (36-3-2, 28KOs) went before a hostile crowd at the Color Line Arena in Hamburg, Germany to stop hometown hero Firat Arslan (29-4-1, 18KOs) in the tenth-round to capture the WBA cruiserweight title.

Jones batted him early, causing Arslan to bleed heavy from his bottom lip and nose by the third-round. The strength advantage carried Jones through. Arslan was never able to hurt Jones with any of his big counters. No matter how many times Arslan tried to rally, Jones would come right back with combinations to the head and body.

By the ninth, Jones appeared to be tired, but then he began to unload with power shots in the tenth, battering Arslan for the TKO with 27-seconds left in the round. Arslan was taken to a hospital after the fight.
