Guerrero-Maidana Finalized For August 27 in San Jose

By Chris LaBate

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised the Los Angeles Times that everything has been finalized for a junior welterweight clash between Robert Guerrero and Marcos Maidana, which takes place on August 27 at San Jose's HP Pavilion. The fight will be televised by HBO with Maidana's WBA interim-title on the line. Guerrero (29-1-1, 18 KOs) moves up in what is going to be his first bout at 140, with Maidana being one of the biggest hitters at the weight.

"This is an opportunity for an absolutely sensational fight," said Schaefer. "You know when you make a fight like this, it can be an all-out slugfest, a candidate to be fight of the year."

I think I am going to go with Guerrero on this one. Eventhough he is moving up, I still think he can and will win this.

i actually think guerrero will outclass maidana. i haven't seen maidana do good against smart fighters lately (khan and morales) and guerrero imo is a pretty smart fighter. it will deff be an exciting fight, hopefully the ghost comes out…
