George Liddard is determined to prove on Friday against Derrick Osaze that he is ready to be “let off the leash”

As 2024 comes to an end, it’s time to take a look at some of boxing’s most talented and potential-packed up-and-comers in the first of a three-part series.

George Liddard headlined Huge Boxing’s first foray into professional boxing on Friday night and the Billericay middleweight brought the curtain down on a successful 2024 with a one-sided first round stoppage of Italian veteran Omar Ilunga at York Hall

Rhiannon Dixon and Terri Harper both made weight ahead of their bout for the WBO lightweight title in Sheffield. They meet at the Park Community Arena over 10 rounds on a bill that sees Peter McGrail take on Brad Foster while prodigious Olympic gold medalist Galal Yafai aims to get rounds ahead of his significant November 30 fight with Sunny Edwards.

LEEDS, ENGLAND – It is almost a year to the day since Gary Cully suffered the first professional defeat of his career when he was taken out inside three rounds by Jose Felix.

Later this afternoon at the Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino, Conor Benn (22-0) will face fellow unbeaten fighter Keith Dobson (16-0) in a welterweight showdown. The fight will top a 6 fight Matchroom Boxing card that will stream live on DAZN.

Peter Dobson didn’t say anything to Conor Benn after they made weight Friday afternoon in Las Vegas. After talking trash throughout the buildup toward their junior middleweight match, Dobson simply stared into Benn’s eyes as they faced off for the final time before their fight Saturday. Benn didn’t say anything, either, as he too looked with disdain at his upcoming opponent.

Khalil Coe, George Liddard and Jimmy Sains are all set to feature on the undercard of Conor Benn’s clash with Peter Dobson at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas on Saturday February 3, live worldwide on DAZN.

Jai Opetaia and Jordan Thompson are set for their championship clash. The pair of unbeaten cruiserweights both easily made weight for Saturday’s DAZN main event from OVO Arena Wembley in London. Sydney’s Opetaia was 198.6 pounds in the first defense of his lineal and IBF crown, while the Manchester-bred, London-based Thompson packed 198.9 pounds onto his 6’6” frame.

Jai Opetaia and Ellie Scotney now have confirmed opponents and a location for their upcoming title defenses. Matchroom Boxing confirmed a previous BoxingScene.com report of a September 30 DAZN show that will feature both boxers who both make the first defense of their respective crowns. Australia's Opetaia will defend the lineal and IBF cruiserweight championship versus England's Jordan Thompson in the main event, while Scotney will put her IBF junior featherweight title on the line versus Argentina's Laura Soledad Griffin
