George Kambosos: record, next fight and profile →

By Eric Raskin - There’s a gaping hole in the boxing schedule this Saturday. It’s about an inch long and a quarter-inch wide, requiring either 11 or 15 stitches to close, depending on whom you ask.

The amount of chastisement that’s been thrown in the direction of George Kambosos Jr., from his point of view, is a bit unfair. He doesn’t need anyone to remind him of what transpired when he fought Devin Haney. Simply put, it wasn’t his proudest moment as he lost virtually every second of every round in back-to-back meetings.

Fighters come in all shapes and sizes but for the most part, the dreams they share are very similar. Vasiliy Lomachenko, however, had a bit of a different goal for himself.

At the clear tail end of his career, Vasiliy Lomachenko, just a few short months ago, believed he bagged his biggest accomplishment. Although he was viewed as a slight underdog, he fought like a man who didn’t have a few grey hairs in his beard.

Vasiliy Lomachenko came up just short in his bid to collect all the lightweight titles in one shot. The plan now is to reclaim his place atop the division one belt at a time. That first step towards a second lightweight title reign will come in a May 12 showdown versus former lineal, WBA, IBF

Veteran boxing manager Egis Klimas thinks there needs to be more respect afforded to Vasiliy Lomachenko, in light of how his former adversaries have fared recently.

WBO junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez is days away from making his first title defense against Jamaine Ortiz on February 8th in Las Vegas. Lopez captured the title in June of 2023 with a dominant decision win over Josh Taylor.

George Kambosos Jr.’s longtime promoter realizes just how fortunate the former unified lightweight champion is to have moved into position to secure his upcoming title fight versus Vasiliy Lomachenko.

Just about everyone was flummoxed when it came to the status of Teofimo Lopez. Although he had all of the belts at 135 pounds at one point, that green title he walked around with seemed a bit fraudulent.
