WBA/IBO/WBC-interim middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs) is hoping to get a fight with full WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) in the coming months.

Cotto was in talks to face Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on May 2nd. That fight fell through. Golovkin is the mandatory challenger to Cotto's title. Golovkin will first return next month in Monaco, when he defends his titles against Martin Murray. If he wins, a date of May 16th is being penciled in for his next HBO fight.

He views Cotto as the perfect pay-per-view opponent. The Puerto Rican fighters has yet to schedule a return date or an opponent.

"I hope [that it happens next], this is the fight that I want. This would be a very good fight for the fans, for television. I said that I want a pay-per-view fight this year. I want fights like Cotto, Canelo, Chavez. Cotto is the WBC champion. I want to get all of the titles at middleweight, so of course I want this fight to happen," Golovkin told Kazakh TV.
