At Volgelsang Halle in Stralsund, Germany, fringe heavyweight contender
Gbenga Oloukun
of Nigeria resurrected his career in a big way with a one-punch fourth round knockout over
Konstantin Airich
.

A monster left hook put Airich (16-3-2, 13 KOs) down and virtually out at the start of the fourth round. Oloukun (19-6, 12 KOs) followed the highlight reel knockdown with an onslaught forcing referee Heinrich Muechmert to wave the contest off after a signal from German's corner, coming 28 seconds into the fourth round.

Oloukun was a one-day sub for Yakup Saglam, who withdrew from a fight with Airich citing an injury. The Nigerian was ready though but waited a bit before revealing his true power. Oloukun was carefully watching Airich in the first, taking some punches, blocking the rest and looking for a huge single punch.

The same pattern was witnessed in the second with neither boxer prevailing. Oloukun started to deliver in the third and it soon became obvious that his power is way too much for the German, while the opposite statement was false.

Airich preferred to answer rather than to cover under Oloukun's fire and the price was paid - firstly at the very end of the third and finally in the fourth round.

The loss is yet another major setback for Airich, once a promising prospect but perhaps now needs to consider another linke of work. Conversely, it’s a huge win for the Nigerian after going just 1-5 following last year’s career-best victory over Lamon Brewster.

Azerbaijani
Azad Azizov
(24-3-1, 15 KOs) made a successful comeback to lightweight division with a sixth round stoppage over a game Georgian
Kakhaber Avetisyan
(15-12-1, 3 KOs).

It wasn't a walk in the park for short slugger Azizov, whose boxing skills leave a bit to be desired. Avetisyan fought bravely with presumably better Azizov and had his chances all way through the sixth stanza. However, the punishment dealt by the Azerbaijani was too much for the Georgian and he retired on his stool past the conclusion of the sixth round.

Azizov captured a vacant PABA interim lightweight belt after this win in what marked his first fight at the weight in more than three years.

Murat Oener
(3-0, 1 KO), who reportedly isn't related to Ahmet Oener (the show's promoter), won a four round unanimous decision over professional loser
Andy Thiele
(1-11-1) in four rounds. No scores were announced. Oener scored a knockdown in the first round.

In a ‘blink-or-you-will-miss-it’ performance, Turkish heavyweight
Erkan Teper
(2-0, 2 KOs) destroyed terribly shot German
Alexander Kahl
(15-7-1, 13 KOs) just 23 seconds into the opening round. The entire fight consisted of  just two thrown punches: a left hook followed by a major right hand, which sent Kahl on his knees and then out after a count of ten. Teper made a statement with the performance, considering that former long-time cruiserweight king and current heavyweight contender Juan Carlos Gomez went the eight round distance with Kahl this April.

Germany-based Russian brawler
Mikhail Shubov
(13-5, 4 KO) was defeated by undefeated but unheralded Dominican junior middleweight
Rafael Bejarano
aka Tony Roman (11-0, 5 KO) over six rounds. Crowd-pleaser Shubov was his usual slugging self as he bombed Bejarano throughout the fight. However, his lack of power proved to be his own undoing. Bejarano answered with dangerous uppercuts and effective right stoppers. He also finished the fight strong to clinch a majority decision: 58-58 and 59-58 (twice). Boxingscene saw it as a draw but without even rounds: 57-57.
