Los Angeles, CA - With major fights on the horizon, world ranked contenders MURAT “Iron” GASSIEV and KONSTANTIN PONOMAREV have opened camp with world renowned trainer ABEL SANCHEZ at The Summit High Altitude Training Facility in Big Bear Lake, California.

“Murat and Konstantin were both very excited upon their recent return to Big Bear to continue training with Abel Sanchez,” said Leo Khorolinsky, manager of Gassiev and Ponomarev. “Since they started working with Abel they’ve both become much better fighters and I’m confident that each will become a future world champion.”

The 21-year-old Gassiev, 22-0 with 16 knockouts, is coming off a second round knockout over Rodney King on June 13. He is currently world ranked #3 by the IBF, #8 by the WBC and #11 by the WBO.

Just 22 years old, Ponomarev returned to camp following his career best victory, a dominant 10-round decision over Mikael Zewski in Las Vegas. The win boosted him in the world rankings to #7 in the WBC, #8 by the WBO and #9 by the IBF.

“These are both hungry, young lions who under the tutelage of Abel Sanchez will continue to maximize their potential,” continued Khorolinsky. “We’ll be announcing fights for both in the very near future.
