Garcia: Maidana Has Options, But Pacquiao is Ideal

By Miguel Rivera

If trainer Robert Garcia had his choice to select the next opponent for Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31KOs) - the Oxnard coach would select WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao.

Maidana had three major fights in a row, with a clash against Adrien Broner in December 2013, and back to back Showtime Pay-Per-View fights with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The former champion from Argentina has also discussed his desire to get Pacquiao in the ring.

There are issues with making that fight and possibly too many obstacles to overcome.

"If we had the opportunity to choose the next opponent of [Maidana] I would say Pacquiao, but there are many things in the middle that would hinder that -  such as promoters, managers, television networks, and perhaps that's why we can't do too much [to make that fight] - but that's the fight I'd like for Chino," Garcia told ESPN Deportes.

"There are other names, such as Amir Khan, Kell Brook.....there are interesting fights, like Danny Garcia if he wants to climb to welterweight, the rematch with Adrien there are options. So let's so what happens, but certainly 2015 could be a big year for Chino."

Robert Garcia is not a match-maker and needs to stfu, I also saw him putting forward Canelo as an opponent for Maidana.

How can anyone seriously count the first fight with Floyd as a loss.... he was only outlanded by ten punches...he landed 220 punches on a pitty-pot slick boxer and Maidana clearly was never in serious trouble as where Floyd was…
