Luis Sandoval catches up with undefeated middleweight contender J'Leon Love to discuss the upcoming fight with Gabe Rosado.

Earlier this week, I swung through the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, Nevada and caught some excellent sparring between middleweight prospect J'Leon Love (15-0, 8 KO's) and super middleweight prospect Ronald Gavril (3-0, 2 KO's). The Love-Gavril session got very intense late, with each man upping their work-rate as the time went by. Love faces off with Philadelphia's Gabriel Rosado on May 4th inside of the MGM Grand as part of the Floyd Mayweather-Robert Guerrero Showtime pay-per-view event.

(Phoenix, AZ) Last week "King" Gabe Rosado & trainer Billy Briscoe made the move from Philadelphia to Phoenix to finish up their ongoing training camp. They are preparing for undefeated & highly touted Mayweather Promotions fighter J'Leon Love on 5/4 as part of the "May Day" event on Showtime PPV. "I feel the training camp move to Phoenix is a nice change of pace. Phoenix compliments Las Vegas very well in that the weather and the time zone are the same. Philly is my city but when I am home, I have more responsibilities. I can put things on-hold while in Phoenix and focus on the task at hand and prepare 100% for the fight." explained Rosado.

This past Wednesday, March 27th, undefeated middleweight prospect J’Leon Love (15-0, 8 KO’s) took to his personal Instagram page to inform his followers of the passing of his older brother Gerald, who was killed in a shooting in his native Detroit, Michigan. Obviously shocked and saddened upon hearing the news, Love has since regrouped to continue his training at the Mayweather Boxing Club ahead of his forthcoming duel with Gabriel Rosado. “I can cover it up pretty good,” Love said when speaking of his emotions. “Because I still have a task that I’ve got to complete. I love my brother to death, that’s my big brother. I just appreciate everybody that’s been showing me love and sending condolences to me.” Love understands that his brother would want the best for him, and that’s why he has no choice by to continue pushing forward under the tutelage of his trainer Roger Mayweather.

LAS VEGAS - The Saturday, May 4 "MAY DAY: Mayweather vs. Guerrero" SHOWTIME PPV telecast fight line-up is complete with the addition of former IBF Bantamweight World Champion Leo Santa Cruz facing veteran Alexander Munoz in a 10-round junior featherweight fight and rising middleweight star J'Leon Love squaring off against recent world title challenger Gabriel Rosado in a 10-round battle. These bouts, in addition to the already announced Daniel Ponce de Leon vs. Abner Mares 12-round title fight for Ponce de Leon's WBC Featherweight World Championship, will set the stage for the world title clash between Eight-Time and Five Division World Champion Floyd Mayweather and Six-Time and Four-Division World Champion Robert Guerrero at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Things are coming together for the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Robert Guerrero Showtime Pay-Per-View, scheduled for May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The co-feature was finalized two weeks ago, with Abner Mares (25-0-1, 13KOs) moving up to the featherweight division to face Daniel Ponce De Leon (44-4, 35KOs) for the WBC championship. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised BoxingScene.com that J'Leon Love (15-0, 8KOs) vs. Gabe Rosado (21-6, 13KOs) has been finalized for the show. Former IBF bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (23-0-1, 13KOs) was going to face Rafael Marquez, who got injured. He will now likely make his super bantamweight debut against veteran Alexander Munoz (36-4, 28KOs) of Venezuela.

BoxingScene.com has been advised by sources close to the negotiations that a middleweight fight between Gabe Rosado and J'Leon Love is close for the May 4 Showtime PPV card headlined by Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero. The source requested anonymity, as they are not yet authorized to speak on the subject. Rosado (21-6, 13 KOs) gave a good account of himself in a January HBO outing against Gennady Golovkin, but was stopped in the seventh round when his corner threw in the towel. Rosado's face was a crimson mask and he was taking a beating, but showed toughness and a solid chin. Prior to that fight, Rosado resurrected his career in 2012 under the guidance of promoter Main Events, reeling off three knockout wins on NBC Sports Network's Fight Night series.

Multiple sources have advised BoxingScene.com that a rematch between former junior middleweight champion Alfredo Angulo (22-2) and Gabriel Rosado (21-6) is in the works to take place on the Floyd Mayweather versus Robert Guerrero televised pay-per-view undercard. Angulo knocked out Rosado in two rounds in their first encounter which took place in August, 2009. A lot has changed since that fight. At the time Rosado was working a day job in addition to pursuing his boxing career. The fighter of Puerto Rican descent had won 7 fights in a row before moving up to middleweight and being stopped by Gennady Golovkin in January. Angulo won his next 4 fights before being knocked out by James Kirkland. He then spent nearly 7 months at the Immigration Detention Justice Center in El Centro, CA. reportedly for visa violations. Since his release he has won both of his fights.

This past weekend in Detroit, Michigan, Las Vegas native Ishe Smith finally realized his full potential in wrestling the IBF junior middleweight title away from Cornelius ‘K9’ Bundrage after twelve rounds of action. Despite the scorecards ending up with a split-decision verdict, Smith clearly was the victor, as evidenced by his grit, fortitude, and better work rate over the second half of the fight. One man who was certainly a curious spectator was junior middleweight contender Gabriel Rosado. Rosado is a month removed from a bloody and brave showing against WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin in New York. Despite ultimately suffering a loss that evening, as his corner elected to call the action largely due to a pair of cuts above his left eye, Rosado is still upbeat about his future aspirations and is adamant on facing the best at 154 pounds.

On Saturday, January 19th in New York inside of Madison Square Garden, two of boxing’s rising stars moved forward with contrastingly different victories. In the HBO tripleheader’s main event, unbeaten contender Mikey Garcia (31-0, 26 KO's) moved into championship status after dropping the rugged Orlando Salido (39-12-2, 27 KO's) four times on his way towards an eight-round technical decision that saw him lift the WBO featherweight championship.
