In a bout billed as a junior middleweight encounter, Don Juan Futrell (20-3-1, 10 KOs) upset Hector Camacho Jr. (42-3-1, 24 KOs) by winning a split decision at the Avi Casino in Laughlin, Nevada. The scores were 76-75 Futrell, 76-75 Futrell and 76-75 Camacho.

Camacho was over 180-pounds going into camp, planned on coming in at 152, but weighed-in at 161. Futrell, who weighed-in at 150, was able to outwork and bust up the bigger, sluggish looking Camacho. To say Camacho was in poor shape is an understatement, he appeared to be exhausted by the fourth round.

Camacho has now lost two of his last three fights and one has to wonder if he can even continue his career at the young age of 28. He planned on eventually moving back down to the junior welteweight division, an impossibility for a guy who weighs-in as a middleweight for a junior-middleweight bout.
