Newly crowned IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22KOs) is not going to be turned down any longer for a domestic super-fight, according to Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs). Brook won twelve round majority decision on Saturday night to capture the IBF crown from champion Shawn Porter at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Years of bad blood and bad feelings have built up. Brook is now going to push even harder to get a fight with Khan, who previously rejected the idea of facing his countryman until he won a world title.
"A fight with Kell Brook will be massive in the UK and I am not saying no," Khan said on Sky Sports.
"Kell thought I would say no to that fight but I am agreeing to it. I will take the fight with both hands. I am a young fighter and I want to give the British fans what they want and come on, let's get it on."
A clash between the unbeaten Brook and Khan would likely command an outdoor arena, with the former's promoter, Eddie Hearn, having previously suggested Bramall Lane, the ground of his fighter's favorite football team, Sheffield United.
But if momentum for the fight builds a bigger venue could possibly be on the cards, with Hearn having said he wants to repeat his summer sell-out at Wembley for the Carl Froch-George Groves fight.
"I love these big fights. I know what it's like to have tasted them and what it's going to be like at Wembley. It would be amazing if we got it there in the UK but it's up to my team," Khan said.
"But, look, I am ready."
