Fury Announces He Has Signed For Wilder Rematch February 22

By Elliot Foster

Tyson Fury declared Sunday that his rematch with Deontay Wilder is now ‘confirmed and signed.’

The 30-year-old lineal heavyweight champion, who fought to a draw with Wilder last December 1, agreed to a deal to fight the WBC champion again February 22. England’s Fury opted out of an immediate rematch to sign a co-promotional agreement with Top Rank and ESPN and was last in the ring June 15, when he stopped previously undefeated German Tom Schwarz inside two rounds at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Wilder faced Dominic Breazeale, icing him inside a round on May 18 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. If Fury and Wilder win one more bout apiece in the latter half of 2019, they will meet again next year.

“The Wilder rematch has been confirmed and signed,” Fury said in footage shared on YouTube. “Twenty-second of February, it’s on. This time, I haven’t been out of the ring for three years.

“This time, I haven’t been abusing too much alcohol. And this time, I’m going to knock him the f**k out.”

America’s Wilder must first win another rematch against Luis Ortiz. That fight is expected to take place in October or November.

Fury also set to lace them up in October. His opponent hasn’t been chosen.

Further details regarding the Wilder-Fury rematch and Fury’s opponent later this year will be revealed in due course.

I'm looking forward to watching the best fighters in the division fight each other again. Others should follow Fury's example and want to fight the best.
