The WBO super-featherweight champ Ricky Burns is leading a resurgence in Scottish boxing. Saturday's win over Andreas Evensen at Glasgow's Braehead Arena was a sell-out. Despite being a complete mismatch, Haye/Harrison was also a sell-out and did brisk PPV business.

This coming weekend my big show in Liverpool will be packed, while the Klitschkos are selling massive amounts of tickets in Germany and Manny Pacquiao is packing them in.

That adds up to a sport in rude health.

Burns' victory over Evensen follows Carl Froch's excellent victory over Arthur Abraham. I said Froch would be too big and strong for Abraham - and so it proved.

Some people have compared his one-sided win to Joe Calzaghe's display against Jeff Lacy.

I don't want to take anything away from Froch, but it wasn't in the same league.

Froch deserves recognition for hard fights against Jean Pascal, Jermain Taylor, Andre Dirrell, Mikkel Kessler and Abraham, three of them on foreign soil.

But Froch lost to Kessler, while Calzaghe took a wide decision against the Dane.

That's their only common opponent - and proves Joe would have had the edge if they had met.

Next up is ex-light-heavyweight world champ Glen Johnson. He is experienced but I cannot see the ageing Jamaican beating Froch.

There have been demands that Froch-Johnson must be shown on Sky. It's a reflection of the support Sky show boxing, but why are there not similar calls for the BBC or ITV to step in?

The Beeb's abandonment of boxing is disgusting, yet they invite numerous fighters to glitz up their Sports Personality of the Year Award show.

They should boycott the event because the BBC have a simple message for them - we don't want to show your fights.

INSOMNIACS will be relieved to know Audley Harrison has decided to fight on.

Why he thinks anyone cares, I can't fathom.

He needs to be starved of the oxygen of publicity. Does he think there is anyone who wants to see another one of his 'fights'?

MANNY PACQUIAO'S next fight seems likely to be against Shane Mosley, rather than the Floyd Mayweather clash everyone wants.

A Texas court has withheld around £1m of Pacquiao's purse from his Antonio Margarito date for allegedly missing a promotional event.

Small Price To Pay

ANTHONY SMALL quit boxing as he believes it leads people to drink and celebrate violence.

But the 31 people he sold tickets to when he fought on my promotion were no trouble!
